Associates are considered the direct heads of the analyst class. The associate acts as the first line of communication between the analysts and the rest of the organization. Once an associate, members are expected to edit all work for formatting errors, attention to detail mistakes, and grammar slip-ups. Associates also are expected to act as mentors for the new members of PSAMG.

To be promoted to associate, PSAMG analysts must go through a 16-week analyst workload. After the 16 weeks is complete, PSAMG analysts must be interviewed by the entire executive board on what they have learned during the semester to secure a spot as a PSAMG associate.
